Congratulations to the boys today on a great win.

Olli, our captain for the day, won the toss and decided to bowl first on a very hot morning. The boys bowled and fielded extremely well and stuck to their task despite the heat. The fielding was excellent with very few fumbles and no over-throws and was highlighted with two catches by Tommy (wicketkeeper), three by Eddie (one of which was a caught & bowled) and three run-outs (Eddie and Tommy combining for two of these). The bowling was equally professional with seven wickets in which the batsmen was clean bowled (two each for Ioan (who took four wickets in one over) and Tommy and one each for Nat, Freddie and Olli). In total, Easton took 16 wickets and restricted Trojans to 187. If there's one thing the boys need to work on then it's wides and no-balls; we bowled 15 altogether which didn't make a difference in today's game but might in the future against stronger opposition.

After a cool-down in the clubhouse and some refreshments, it was time for Easton to bat. By now, the temperature was well into the high twenties and our batsmen did well to run hard and keep the Trojans fielders working hard. All of the Easton batsmen played sensibly, hitting the bad balls but also looking to score runs off the straight balls by defending them into gaps in the field. All of the pairs made a good contribution to the score (adding between 27 and 35 each) and we finished on 354 with the loss of only 4 wickets. Joseph, Eddie, Nat, Hugo, Dylan, Sam, Freddie and Olli all hit boundaries with Sam hitting some great straight drives and Eddie some powerful pull shots, doing well to keep the ball down so as not to risk being caught.

Overall, a win by 167 runs and a performance to be proud of.
