A great start to the season yesterday with a victory over Fair Oak 'A' by 114 runs.
I was particularly impressed by the running between the wickets, which put a lot of pressure on their fielders and resulted in a number of over-throws. I think this added at least 20 runs to our total and we didn't have any run-outs in our innings. In fact, we only lost 4 wickets throughout the whole innings and one of those was to a great catch. Our final two pairs didn't lose any wickets at all, which helped take our total up to 300.
Our bowling was excellent all round with very few wides and no-balls. All the boys are bowling a good line and length, and at a good pace, and it gave the opposition very few chances to score. When they did attempt a run, our fielding was exemplary and I lost count of the number of run-outs (at least 8-10). There were several instances where good throws to the wicketkeeper allowed him to run the batsman out. In total, we took 14 wickets, with Fair Oak finishing on 186.
Finally, well done to Tommy on captaining the side without any help from myself or Danny. He selected the batting pairs, bowling order and set the field and did a fine job.
