Easton Eagles (aka the A team) and Easton Gladiators ( aka the B team) played a full part in the Zooters tournament at the Ageas Bowl. With 36 teams entered, both teams made it through to the quarter finals of the main competition only for the mighty Gladiators to be defeated by the high flying Eagles.
The Eagles won all their pool matches - Eversleigh, Andover and Fleet - and then knocked out Sway and the Gladiators in a titanic quarter final 'local derby'. The Eagles march to the final was sadly stopped in the semis by a nail bitingly close defeat by Eversleigh, who we had beaten in the earlier pool games. However we bounced back to win the the 3rd place play off against Sparsholt. The Eagles team all performed strongly and everybody made a major contribution at some point in the day. Well done to Rory Wooster, Peter Burnand, Ted Umbers, Will Roberts, Charlie Macdonald, Fred Trinder, Grant Pugh, Will Kent and Ali Reid- Thomas.
Easton Gladiators (AKA U9B) rose to the occasion on Sunday to reach the quarter finals of the Zooters tournament at the Ageas Bowl. It was a fine achievement, particularly as the only B team to reach the top eight, underlining the depth of our squad and surpassing last year’s top 16 result.
There could have been no better way to exit the tournament than on the show pitch in front of the pavilion to the Easton Eagles, our A team. A great day and a fantastic team effort from Sam Andrews, Toby Andrew, Archie Bell, Ben Bray, Iwan Cousins, Caitie Croft, Freddie Elliott, Jasper Hanson and Hughie Lewis.
