Hoping to end their season with a flourish E&MWCC 1st VI made a solid start with the ball as Swanmore CC struggled to find their range. Adam Kite made an old plastic ball talk a little with an excellent spell alongside Tristen Newtens. Sam Dickety put in a solid performance at point as the runs dried up and Swanmore finished their 6th over with just 40 runs for 4 wickets. Seb Newtens made his return to the side; featuring in his first game of the 2013 season and struggled to find his radar. Swanmore capitalised initially but Newtens regained control of his spell with an increasingly confident spell of line bowling. The latter overs of Swanmore's innings saw the return of E&MWCC veteran all-rounder Dave Birch. Potentially returning to 1st team action; Birch started his 2013 season with a steady spell of cutters as E&MWCC bowled Swanmore CC out for a mediocre 104 with Dickety taking a pair of sharp diving catches in the 12th.

Richard Vaughn and Sam Dickety made a solid start but failed to find the gaps as the pressure mounted and Dickety was run out for 10. Vaughn followed shortly after; caught trying to find the back wall on the off side. Seb Newtens made a brief cameo before being caught attempting to find the back wall. Birch battled hard for his 18 but was run out attempting to take a fairly routine single. Kite hit a quick 20 but was caught as he attempted to hit out unnecessarily. This left Tristen Newtens to muster a match winning performance from the final 2 overs. Kite was run out as Newtens runner. A disappointing end to a season that has been dominated by successes with the ball and a failure to commit with the bat. On the plus side this side has proven that they are more than capable of exhibiting match winning performances so will have a lot to talk about and work on in the months leading up to the start of their County Division 1 campaign.

The WIDC League may have finished but the WIDC Cup starts on Sunday February 3rd against Fair Oak. Come on down and support the side.
