Easton and Martyr Worthy beat St Cross A

EMWCC U13s beat St Cross In a nail biting match on a perfect cricketing day at Easton. Early wickets for Joey Mitchell (3 for 21) and then for Harrison Hill (4 for 16) took the wind out of St Cross' opening batsmen. Tight bowling from Teddy Tufnell and Freddie Watson Smith kept the run rate low. Wickets from Ludo Knatchbull, Bertie Tufnell and a fine run out by Jamie Dunn left St Cross all out for 103.

Joey Mitchell and Bertie Tufnell had a good opening partnership of 28 with Mitchell retiring on 30. The real heroes of the day were however the tail order batsmen particularly Barnaby Powell making a fine 12 not out and Dunn making a game changing 11 after a middle order collapse. Alex Cowling, Luke Guerrier and William Smart held the line until Powell slipped a drive past St Cross for a match winning 2 runs on the penultimate ball of the match.
