Another Great Win for the 2's

Skip Foreman won the toss and asked Herriard to bat first on a very good wicket with a tinge of green following some overnight rain.
Teenager Ethan Brackstone and Ben Stanborough opened the bowling for Easton and Herriard’s 58 for 1 off 21 overs reflects their and evergreen Trevor Yeates’ good bowling. Ben bowled through finishing with excellent figures of 10-3-28-1. Trevor Yeates took over from Ethan to bowl the best spell for Easton with his final figures being 10-4-17-1. Dan Brown, the Herriard number 4 was the pick of their batsman and he went on to score 58 not out to get Herriard to a very competitive 160 for 5 aided and abetted by 7 dropped catches by Easton.

An additional 2 Trevs ( Compton and Foreman) together with Ethan bowled the last overs of the innings with Ethan’s final figures of 10-0-35-0 reflecting a spell well bowled again without any luck in the catching department! Trev Compton’s figures were 1 for 13 off 3 overs and Trev Foreman’s 2 for 29 off 6 overs.

John Sparks and Trev Foreman opened the innings for Easton putting on a partnership of 28 off 9 overs when Trev was run out after crawling to 4! Simon Struthers joined Sparks in a productive partnership of 74 when Sparks was caught having scored 48 (a fine for jug avoidance was dispensed) including 7 well struck 4’s.

Simon went from strength to strength, dominating partnerships with Dave Ling (6), Rupert Brow (2) and Paul Sanders (2 not out), keeping Easton up with the required run rate and earning the Man of the Match and Pink Cap award. Simon finished on 71 (including 1 six and 10 fours).

At this stage Easton were into their 41st over and still requiring 3 runs to win when teenager Ethan Brackstone strolled to the wicket. Never in doubt! Ethan, showing great composure and a fine technique, hit the first ball he received for 4 to win the match for Easton.

Easton took 21 points and Herriard 7 from the match.
