EMW 2's traveled down the A31 to Alton to play Liphook & Ripsley 3's at Anstey Park.
Skip Foreman lost the toss and was asked to bat on a challenging wicket with a very bumpy outfield.
Simon Struthers and veteran Martin Hall opened the batting, putting on 34 for the first wicket when Struthers was out , playing the shot of the day , only to be caught right on the square leg boundary for 13. U13 Rob Dye then joined Hall and they compiled a partnership of 34 before Hall was out for a well constructed 26. At this stage Easton's had 69 for 2 off 21 overs and when Dye was out for a very good 30, skip Foreman rotated the batting order with Angus Macleod and U15 Arthur Lee batting up the order. Both Macleod and Lee rose to the occasion with Macleod striking 1 six and 7 fours in his 46 and Lee even more impressive with 2 sixes and 9 fours in his 63 not out. Andy Macleod ( 12 ) and Matt Bolland ( 5 not out ) got Easton's to 239 for 6 ( including 45 extras) with 170 runs off the final 21 overs of the match!
Arthur Lee and Ray Lockyer opened the bowling for Eastons and both picked up a wicket in their opening spells to leave Liphook on 39 for 2 after 12 overs. Evergreen Trev Foreman took over from Lee and bowled a tight spell of 10-0-22-1 to put some pressure on the Liphook batters. Number 4 batsman C.Welfare however was going well and having posted a 50 looked like he could get Liphhook close to the their target. Enter Matt Bolland to the bowling attack and in his first over , off a half tracker, he took a magnificent caught and bowled to dismiss Welfare for 51! Man of the match Lee returned to bowl his final 4 overs and took a further 2 wickets with Bolland also taking a further 2 wickets. Lee finished with figures of 10-0-27-3 and Bolland very impressive figures of 5-1-8-3 with Ben Stanbrough provinding valuable bowling support to leave Liphook 142 for 8 at the end of their innings.
A fantastic team effort with some Arthur Lee magic earned Eastons 23 points with Liphook getting 7.
