Match produces over 600 runs for the loss of 11 wickets

EMW 2's were away to Overton 3's at their Berrydown Playing Fields ground on a bouncy artificial track with one short boundary 50 yards away !

Skip Foreman won the toss and decided to bat and at 2 for 23 off 5 overs things did not look fantastic .Enter Simon Struthers and u15 colt Rob Dye, who played the shot of the match, a square drive for 4 to the longest boundary, in making a well crafted 18. Dave Ling then joined Simon Struthwers and they put on a partnership of 69 with Simon Struthers out 2 short of a well deserved 50 with 2 sixes and 7 fours.

Next man in was Andy Macleod who , together with Dave Ling, put on a partnership of 150 to take the score into the 300's when Dave Ling was caught for a ferocious 85, including 16 fours and 3 sixes. Andy Macleod finished up not out on 63 with 3 sixes and 9 fours and Easton totalled 306 ( including 76 extras with 45 wides! ) for the loss of 7 wickets.

Overton 3's started off slowly but soon accelerated the pace of scoring with Cox and Glass both hitting tons ( 116 and 123 respectively). Both batsmen were dropped before they got to double figures and , ultimately, this cost Easton the match.

Easton's man of the match, Dave Ling, showed his versatility by passing on the gloves to Simon Struthers and bowling a tight spell. taking two of the four Overton wickets to fall.

However, it was a tremendous game and all 3 Easton u15 recruits can hold their heads up high-Rob Dye for his batting and shot of the day, Sky Mitchell who bowled 10 overs and took a well deserved wicket and Ben Cholerton for some outstanding ground fielding throughout the innings....and so the best for last which was the enthusiastic & determined fielding by young Frank Struthers.
