Chamberlain & Webber set new record opening partnership!

Playing away at Hungerford. Easton won the toss and decdied to bat on a really good looking pitch. Matt Chamberlain and Tim Webber took advantage of some wayward bowling and a very quick outfield to race to 68 off the first 10 overs. Runs continued to flow as both batsman passed 50. Chamberlain and Webber continued to punish the bowling with Chamberlain reaching his Century as the partnership passed 200! Hungerford got the much needed breakthough to the devastation of Webber who was out for 99! Ending an incredible opening partnership of 224! Chamberlain wasn't finished and was eventually caught for 141 in the deep. Dean Griffin (15), Jamie Fox (7) and Jamie Banks (8) hit their runs quickly as there was only 8 overs left when Griffin got to the crease. Easton amassing 283 for 5.

Hungerford made an impressive start as the pitch continued to prove to be an excellent batting pitch their opening partneship of Stuart Grimmond and Jacke Rowell raced to 50. The Jamie Fox took what will certainly be one of the catches of the season at 3rd slip diving high to his right and the ball sticking in his palm to remove Grimmond for 20 off the bowling of Chamberlain (2 for 31). Rowell continued to hit big down the ground until he tried one too many and was caught by Jordan Banks at long on for 34 off of Webber (2 for 61). Hungerford's overseas Imlar February batted brilliantly but was losing partners at the other end with Jamie Banks taking 3 wickets, 2 caught by Webber at wide mid wicket and one behind by Mark Dickety. Tim Webber took another wicket assisted by Mark Dickety with a stumping. By this point the only chance Hungerford had rested on Febraury. In trying to take wickets runs continued to come easily for February also having a couple of lives being dropped by Dean Griffin, Adam Kite and Ethan Brackstone. Chamberlain then came back to bowl February for 89. Brackstone (1 for 14) and Adam Kite (1 for 62) came back to bowl batsman 8 and 10. Hungerford eventually finished their innings on 241 for 9, giving Easton a well deserved win. Next week Easton play top of the table Longparish at home and will be hoping to take renewed confidence into the game to try and upset the league leaders!
