Under 9 B v Andover A

A great start to the season.

EMWCC Under 9 B v Andover Under 9 A

Andover 304 for 7 ; EMWCC 292 for 5; Andover won by 12 runs

It was a proud moment for the coaching team on our first game of the Under 9's B season to see so much enthusiasm, commitment and good spirit from the whole team. With over 60% of the team sourced for this match from our year 3s and below, we have showed off the future rising stars of the club !

Easton elected to bowl first. From the outset, you could see that the suggested extra mid week bowling session in the garden had paid off. (Parents, this is a huge help and please may it continue!) We reduced our total wides in 20 over to just 13 ! This accuracy is unheard of from this age group. Caitie was our star in this area with no extras added to her bowling. Accurate bowling and tight fielding kept Andover to 304 for 7, with Mia and Hughie our leading wicket takers, taking two wickets each.

With Andover setting a target of 304, our early batsman made this look achievable. Iwan and Jasper made a fast opening start achieving a partnership of 24, leading Andover on run rate by 21 runs after just 4 overs. The gap continued to our advantage at the halfway mark, but good bowling by Andover in the second part of the inning made defending our wickets a priority over risky shots. We ended just 12 runs short ! A good performance by all; particularly by those making their debut for the club.

Many thanks the parents for your continued support warming up the kids ahead of the game, scoring and your encouragement from the boundary.

EMWCC U9B Coach
