U9 Bs put up a good fight against St Cross

It was a pleasure to see just how far our Easton Under 9B team has progressed since our previous encounter v St Cross U9B at the IBM tournament.

Easton batted first, eager to get some early runs on the board. We batted well, protecting our wicket with some quality stroke play. Unfortunately, our aggressive play resulted in a number of catches given away which proved expensive. On a bigger than usual boundary, Archie and Sam scored 8 each and Jasper 7. Easton finished on a score of 260 for 9.

Like England, our score was always going to be challenging to defend. An early wicket in the first over by Ben gave us some optimism. However, despite some fine fielding, our extras tally, making up over half St Cross’ total , proved overwhelming. St Cross won by 71 runs with Ben, Archie and Hughie each taking a wicket.
