A team effort to be proud of!

The Ground looked in great nick after a fantastic performance by Dave Cooper’s emergency ground staff team and Easton were asked to bat by the BW skipper.
John Sparks and Paul Sanders opened the batting for Easton and they took the score to 31 when Paul was bowled by Hussein for 11. Skip Dave Ling then joined John and, after a watchful start, Dave & John cut loose to forge a partnership of 95 to take the score to 126 for 2 in the 30th over when John was bowled by Redding for 44 ( 3 fours ).
15 year old Will Wickham joined Dave but soon departed having scored 2 being bowled by one that kept low. In strode 17 year old Arthur Lee who took time to play himself in whilst Dave blasted away at the other end. Their partnership yielded 94 and took the score to 222 for 3 at the end of the 42 overs. Dave Ling finished with a glorious 103 not out (12 fours) and Arthur Lee 36 not out (4 fours and 1 six).
A great tea supplied by The Chestnut Horse was enjoyed by all and Easton took the field with skip Dave Ling urging that catches needed to be taken to for Easton to win the game.
Three magnificent catches followed, one each by evergreen Trevor Yeates (a high swirling beast of a catch over his left shoulder!), an equally impressive one by skip Dave Ling to remove Redding, who had just hit 2 sixes in a well-played 44 and a diving catch to his right by wicket keeper Will Wickham who also pouched another catch in a high class display of keeping throughout the innings.
Arthur Lee bowled with pace and intelligence to claim 4 wickets for 30 off his ten overs and he was well supported by veteran Trev Foreman ( 10-1-23-2), Ben Stanbrough ( 9-0-49-1), Trevor Yeates ( 8-0-36-0) and Rae Lockyer ( 5-1-11-2).
BW innings finished on 159 for 9. Easton took 23 points to BW’s 6. Easton’s man of the match was skip Dave Ling who led from the front and deployed his resources magnificently.
