EMW 2's were asked to bat on a not so great wicket and posted a very good score of 161 with runs being made all the way down the batting order. Ben Stanbrough, batting at number 4 , scored 27 including 3 fours and a six and there were valuable contributions from a returning Gareth Goodhall ( 25 ), Andy Macleod ( 24 including a magnificent six ), Will Sykes ( 21 ), Dave Ling ( 20 ), Ollie Freemantle ( 12 ) and Hugo Andrea ( 10 ).
Young Ollie Freemantle, making his season and 2nd 11 debut , opened the bowling from the pavilion end and took a wicket with his 4th delivery, removing the C & CF opening bat for a duck with a good shorter delivery caught brilliantly by a diving wicket -keeper Dave Ling in front of the wicket.
Ben Stanbrough , bowling up the hill, put in a great bowling performance -8-1-22-4 -including 2 clean bowled as a very attacking field produced the required results. Trev Foreman , taking over from Ollie Freemantle , cleaned up with bowling figures of 3.4-0-10-4 including a great spiralling catch by Man of the Match , Ben Stanbrough, to remove dangerous looking C & CF skipper John Gray .
So a much improved performance during which EMW showed the talent in the team -many thanks to Derrick Yeates who scored and to Paul Sanders, resting an injury incurred by lifting a heavy lawn mower from a car ( so he says!) , who umpired throughout the match.
